I just wanted to do something totally random and off the wall. I spent more time trying to figure out what to do than actually doing it. At first I wanted something that would make a great portfolio piece. But now...ugh. This won't be going in there, that's for sure. Still trying to iron out some bugs or...something.

so this is what I am going with, my mom'c bday is monday so I thought i'd make a card. I figure its also a good way for them to maybe understand what exactly it is I do at school other than "art"
im thinking about making an envelope to match it as well

recipe thingy so far

So I am going with the "1950's retro-housewife" look. Like the kitchens of homes on TV shows I grew up with; leave it to beaver, bewitched, etc.
Tater tot casserole is a dish that just seemed to fit that era as well.
I dont think I will be going with that typewriter type on the recipe cards, but something else a lil more fitting.

I have an awesome neighbor

So every now and then I come home and notice my driveway is leaf free suddenly, and I found out my neighbor blows it for me. really nice guy, a really good neighbor to have, so I thought I'd make him a thank you card and something to go with it.

So I had this assignment back in drawing 2, to draw yourself like a monster...so I went with a merman, or creature from the black lagoon or something. I took a photo of it, and live traced it into illustrator.I thought this might be a good starting point.

Ok, so, with the badges...what if they were 4 of them, arranged like the moda logo?
And the other, I did some variations. I went thru all those beads and picked out the red ones, with some red pipe cleaners from the ones I bought 2 weeks ago or so, and thought I would scan those in and put them on the page.
I still haveny given up on the badges idea, been sketching some badges out, but they just don't look "right".

The sticks that frame the "camp moda" were done roughly, to show what I was aiming for.
I would like to add some type of hand-drawn embellishment, like drawn lines or something to the effect of marker. Good/Bad?

this is it so far, the whole tiki idea.

After an hour of gluing sticks

... and scanning stuff in, photoshop, etc....this is the start of the other idea I had.
I also bought some various beads, felt, and foam shapes, and..pipe cleaners, twistie thingys.

Feeling really generic and trendy right about now.

Eh...nothing special. i just thought it would be nice to just...make something, anything. Just to take a break from the projects and stuff right now. Feeling burned out, uninspired, so I just..made something for the heck of it, with no pressure of getting picked, good crits, etc...bleh. I think all they are missing is distressed type and ink blots? just used photos I pulled off the interweb of bands and put lyrics to it.Just making stuff to do it.

So...i am stuck on this one. I never went to summer camp, or know anything about it really. SO , I thought about stuff like...boyscouts, accomplishments, and badges, and thought maybe that would be a good place to start.

I was experimenting with a pattern out of the logo mark,and to give it a minor retro feel. I am not set on the color either, but just went with what I had for now.
I tiled the logo bug as well,i thought it might make a nice interior print inside the envelope.

I'm digging 2, but I am also liking 4, and 8.I tried a new typeface as well.
I tried some new colors, and i am partial to a,b,and c. Any thoughts?
